While the Purosangue might look sort of like an SUV—if you squint—we've driven it and can confirm that it thinks it's one of Ferrari's sports cars. With a 715-hp V-12 engine under the hood and a state-of-the-art active suspension system, the Purosangue's performance is more than just impressive—it's extraordinary.

The interior is ultra luxe, with room for four across two rows of bucket seats. Fine materials such as soft leather and sleek metal accents mingle with digital features designed to fade into the background rather than be in your face. As a result, there's an analog driving experience here that harkens back to Ferrari's golden age without completely denying its driver modern connectivity features.

Expert Tip: If overwhelming luxury in an SUV is what you're after, the Bentley Bentayga offers a more comfort-oriented experience in a larger package. But to us, nothing beats the howl of a Ferrari V-12.

What's New for 2027?

Ferrari is introducing a new Handling Speciale model to the Purosangue lineup this year, which it says makes the SUV even sportier to drive. The adaptive suspension has been reprogrammed and firmed up to reduce body roll in corners. The eight-speed dual-clutch automatic has different shift mapping for what Ferrari describes as "more decisive gearchanges," and there's a new exhaust setting that lets more V-12 engine roar into the cabin. To visually differentiate the Handling Speciale model from the normal Purosangue, Ferrari substitutes unique diamond-cut wheels, carbon fiber trim, matte-black exhaust finishers, and satin-black exterior badging.

The price of the 2027 Ferrari Purosangue is expected to start around $430.000 and go up to $500.000 depending on the trim and options.

To purists scoffing at an SUV wearing the famed prancing-horse badge, we’ll point to the naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V-12 engine lurking under the Purosangue’s hood. Nothing says Ferrari more than a screaming twelve-cylinder, this one making 715 horsepower and 528 pound-feet of torque—and it even wears the brand’s signature red engine paint on the intake manifold's air boxes. We came away from our initial test drive impressed with the Purosangue's handling and performance, alleviating any remaining doubt we had that Ferrari's first SUV would be a dud.

An active suspension system is standard and uses an electric motor at each corner of the SUV to apply force to the dampers during cornering maneuvers to quell body roll. As such, the Purosangue has no need for traditional anti-roll bars, and it can also hunker down during hard driving by reducing its ride height by 0.4 inches. At full chat, the Purosangue does its best impression of its sports car siblings.
