(Description: A song like "Bailando" makes you want to get up out of your seat and find a dance partner to get busy with. The latin inspired song makes you feel like you are somewhere off on a tropical island. The song uses a blend of both English and Spanish all throughout. Bailando is heavily inspired by latin music, reggaeton, and dancehall influences as it blends the genres into a unique sound and new lane for King Kopa to show the world.)

🎥 BlackTree TV Saturday Morning Feature: Trick Baby (1972) 🎥

This week’s Saturday Morning Feature brings you Trick Baby (1972), a gripping crime thriller based on the novel by Iceberg Slim. Directed by Larry Yust, this classic Blaxploitation film dives deep into the world of con men, race, and survival in the gritty streets of Philadelphia.

Starring Kiel Martin as White Folks and Mel Stewart as Blue Howard, Trick Baby follows a light-skinned Black man who passes as white and his seasoned mentor as they navigate a high-stakes con. Their world turns upside down when they swindle the wrong people, forcing them into a desperate fight for their lives. The film offers a compelling mix of suspense, social commentary, and electrifying performances.

Notable Cast & Director:

🔹 Mel Stewart – A veteran actor known for his work in television and film, Stewart appeared in All in the Family, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, and the classic film New Jack City.
🔹 Kiel Martin – Best remembered for his role as Detective J.D. LaRue on Hill Street Blues, Martin’s performance in Trick Baby is one of his most memorable early roles.
🔹 Dallas Edward Latimore (Ted Lange) – While best known for playing Isaac Washington on The Love Boat, Lange showcases his dramatic chops in Trick Baby.
🔹 Larry Yust (Director) – A filmmaker and writer known for his work in both television and film, Yust brought a raw, realistic tone to Trick Baby, capturing the tension and atmosphere of 1970s Philadelphia.

We’ve chosen Trick Baby as part of our Saturday Morning Feature to highlight its powerful themes of identity, deception, and the complexities of race in America. It remains a must-watch for fans of classic cinema and those interested in the cultural impact of Blaxploitation films.

This is self funded surrealism
A story about making the absolute most of it all in one summer
Credit to nobody but the members
Here’s some life advice before you watch
Nobody is coming to save you
You must use each day to decipher who you love and trust and march forward with them
I hope this serves as motivation to make that call, take that trip, drop that song, open that shop, see your parents, leave that relationship or stay in it forever, spend the bread, get some more etc.
They keep saying our genre is dying
Videos don’t matter
Nobody is watching nobody is listening
I still care. As much as I did on the set of Best I Ever Had.
So be kind and rewind.
